When winter rolls around, I love making all things warm and cozy. One of my favorites is a quick-to-make hat I designed using Cherub Chunky Wave (now discontinued). With a vibrant graduation wave, the final effect of this yarn was beautiful. Try this design with Cherub Chunky, our easy-care Nylon and Acrylic blend, which is perfect for charity projects and gift giving.
Materials:
- 1 skein Cherub Chunky Wave, 55% Nylon/45% Acrylic (137 yds/100 g)
- US 8 16″ circular needles
- US 10 16″ circular needles
- US 10 DPNs (double-pointed needles)
- Stitch Marker
- Yarn Needle
Abbreviations:
K = Knit
P = Purl
K2tog = Knit 2 Together
Sts = Stitches
Gauge:
- Approximately 4 sts equals 1″ in Stockinette (unstretched)
Instructions:
- With US 8 circular needle, Cast On 63, 72, 81 sts (Child, Adult – S/M, Adult L)
- Place Stitch Marker to show beginning of round
- Start Ribbing
- K2, P1 (repeat around)
- Continue until 1″, 1.5″, 1.5″ from cast on
Change to US 10 Circular Needle
Start Pattern:
- K for 6 rounds
- P for 2 rounds
- Repeat these 8 rounds 4, 5, 5 times
Start decreases (change to DPNs when necessary)
1. K7, K2tog
2. K6, K2tog
3. K5, K2tog
4. K4, K2tog
5. K3, K2tog
6. K2, K2tog
7. K1, K2tog
8. K2tog
Cut yarn and weave in ends.
