Varian Brandon started knitting at eight. Yarn and needle accompanied her through an undergraduate degree in architecture and a masters degree in communication. Now, after using knitting as a sometime pastime, she has turned to the yarn and needles for a creative outlet on a regular basis.
A trip to the islands of Great Britain sparked an interest in the traditions of Fair Isle design and construction. An international design award and several magazine contributions later, she is currently designing color work patterns full time for several yarn companies and her own website.
Varian is also the coordinator and one of the instructors at The Knitting and Quilting retreat at Kanuga Conferences in North Carolina which has been held every January since 2006.
Currently living in Saluda, North Carolina, she can be found at www.brandonknittingdesigns.com or on Ravelry at varianbrandon.
