Although Shannon Thomas has knit from a young age, it wasn't until she completed a successful career supporting information technology in the cellular world that she was able to afford the time to pursue her passion for fiber arts.
After leaving the corporate world in 2000, she decided to follow her dreams in a less structured environment. Using the MBA she acquired in her first career, she and her husband Dave opened their own business, a local yarn store in the western shadows of the Cascade Mountains, east of Seattle. During the years of its operation, their store succeeded in all the elements of a successful small business.
As a small business owner, Shannon learned the ins and outs of the industry as well as the day-to-day operations of the retail world. When she and Dave decided to close the doors on their business so they could travel the globe, technology seemed to support the obvious future of pattern design in the knitwear world. Using what she learned in the technological arena of computers and what she learned in the fiber arena, she is now able to work anywhere in the world, creating, designing and documenting patterns with Toad Hollow Designs, for others to knit and enjoy.
Shannon has said that "Life is short; eat dessert first!" She is enjoying every sweet bite and living the life of her dreams.
